Humility. An honorable quality. No one likes braggards. Many of us are sensitive to this idea, and are often embarrassed when asked to speak about ourselves. Others are very comfortable informing others as to their talents and achievements, but does that constitute braggadocio?

At some point in our lives everyone is called upon to promote themselves. Whether it’s impressing someone they seek romance with or an employer in a job interview, it is a necessary aspect of our existence.

Often it is the degree to which some promote themselves and the context within which they do so that can cause others to cringe or ultimately think less of them, not more. It is both an art and a science to know the time, place, and methodology for promoting oneself.

Social media is the primary modern platform for self-promotion. For some it can be for worthwhile business purposes, such as marketing and sales. For others the goal is to simply be noticed, liked, followed, or understood. Some sincerely share their knowledge for altruistic purposes. Others, the braggards among us, strive only for fame and whatever satisfaction it brings.

The bottom line is we are all promoting ourselves in some way on some level to achieve the things we desire in life. And there is no shame in that (depending on how many selfies you post).

With that said, I will now shamelessly utilize this blog to promote my latest novel, REVISION: The Dawn of Awareness:

WHY ARE WE HERE?

As Homo Sapiens evolved from previous hominid species, the common theory is that as our brain increased in size over the millennia, at some point our current level of mental acuity developed. As with any new trait appearing through the process of natural selection, our self-awareness must have provided a survival advantage.

Our genetic code contains the information necessary to physically develop an entire human being, including the billions of brain cells and their trillions of complex synaptic connections. But where in that morass of tissue does the mind dwell? Where is the soul? Is there something present in our DNA that is code for these seemingly ethereal aspects of humanity? Is there a self-awareness “gene?”

Revision: The Dawn of Awareness explores these questions. Sometimes uplifting and sometimes unnerving, the story takes place in the very near future. Set within the unseen world of the most advanced, and perhaps controversial, scientific research endeavors of the century, the thrilling narrative presents ideas that may alarm as well as inspire. But it will certainly entertain.

Set for release on Kindle next Summer, 2025, Revision: The Dawn of Awareness  is now available for pre-order now, here:

Thank you for your kind attention.
